Topic : Wheelie bin locks??

Hi Westboy.
Sounds like a bit of a nuisance. Does the area have a wall to one side or is it open? If you send in a picture we could maybe see a solution. (you could email it to info@gardening.ie as the image uploader is acting the maggot) My initial idea would be to weigh the bin down somehow with blocks, but they would disappear every time the bin is emptied! Chains fitted to a wall then tied around the bins could work too.

It'd be a good idea to have a securing lock on the ground fitted to the concrete.

There are other ideas such as the screens that might do the job too...check them out on google, there are loads of different types from bamboo to the plastic leaves http://www.hidbin.ie/

cheers

Ian

Topic : Wheelie bin locks??

Hey everyone,
Currently in the middle of a storm and have quite a few problems with our wheelie bins being blown around and nowhere to put them except for inside the house!!

We don't have anything available outside to store them in and need a solution for outside the house. I have looked for a few bin locks but they only lock the bin itself, it doesn't secure it to anything.

The only near relevant thing I have found is a "Bin Guardian" wheelie bin lock which actually secures it to the wall which I found on amazon.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these if you can recommend them?

Hi Jess

Welcome to the forum...you certainly don't come across as clueless any more than I do about the Aurdra Chili...I can't find anything about it at all...

I'll keep looking but in the mean time I'd look at how to look after the more common plants...I would think they like draught free, warm sunny spots and to be repotted when the roots fill the pot they are in..A conservatory would probably be Ideal....Maybe if you had a pic that might help....

I'll keep looking ...

Hi, I really need to find a flowering specimen of Cyperus papyrus (Egyptian Papyrus plant) to do a painting commission. Is there anyone who knows of this growing in someone's greenhouse/conservatory/pond here in Ireland? It needs a warm aquatic environment. It can be easily confused with Cyperus alternifolius (Umbrella Sedge) which is all they have growing in Glasnevin at the moment. Please help!!:-S

The most obvious way of preventing rabbit from destroying your garden would be by using some strong rabbit proof fencing. This would apply also for keeping foxes at bay for your garden areas.

Topic : Transportable Wildflower Gardens

I am presently publicising this little idea of mine where I plant wildflower seeds in shallow trays about 3ft by 18 inches and four inches deep and let the roots of the plants mesh to form a mat so that the little gardens can then be transported to prepared sites in our gardens or public places to enhance the environment.

Previously I made a large version 8ft by 3ft planted on top of chicken wire. Left it to grow and form a carpet then rolled it up and moved it to cover a piece of ground that was an eyesore close by. It worked and flowered for ages.

Topic : I need a used ride-on mower..

Hello, my first question on this forum. I am looking for a cheap mower for me, as the previous I had is not working anymore. I tried to repair it, and now it is completly destroyed ;)
So I wanted to get another, used one, because I do not want to pay a fortune for it. I was looking at ebay, and at ride-on mowers category here. What could you recommend? My budget is about ~1000Ł.
Thanks!
